Formerly known as Simplify Deccan and prior to that as Air Deccan, Kingfisher Red is a low-cost airline run by Kingfisher Airlines. The airline is headquartered in Mumbai. It has been rated as India’s only five star airline by Skytrax. The airline connects over 70 cities and has more than 540 daily departures.
The airline was started as Air Deccan by Captain G.R. Gopinath who had a dream to enable “every Indian to fly at least once in his life time.” That’s why it was popularly known as the common man’s airline. In December 2007, it was announced that Air Deccan would merge with Kingfisher Airlines but due to Indian Aviation Regulations that prohibited Kingfisher Airlines from flying on international routes since it had not operated in the domestic market for five years, it was decided to instead merge Kingfisher Airlines into Deccan Aviation, following which Deccan Aviation would be renamed Kingfisher Airlines. With the merger becoming effective in April 2008, Vijay Mallya became the chairman and CEO of the new company, while G.R. Gopinath became its vice-chairman.
Kingfisher Red is the first low-cost carrier in India; however, many other airlines have now come up to compete in the same segment of the market. The airline serves 100% hot, fresh and mouthwatering food to its passengers. While sitting one can enjoy reading newspapers, business magazines, fashion magazines etc. to spend time in a better way. For kids they offer exclusive magazines from Disney. Their regular clients enjoy special travel benefit of earning lots of miles through which they get the chance of winning free air tickets. Their flights permit a special baggage allowance of 25 kgs.
The airline connects various domestic sectors of India including New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, etc. and ensures a safe, value based and enjoyable travel experience to its guests.
